QT Group Supplies Containerized SWRO Desalination Systems with Solar Power Integration to the Maldives
As a company committed to social and environmental responsibility, QT Group has played a key role in supporting Chinese foreign aid projects for desalination and wastewater treatment.
The Maldives, renowned for its pristine beaches and thriving tourism, faces increasing freshwater shortages due to climate change and rising demand.
With groundwater reserves depleting, securing a reliable source of drinking water has become a pressing challenge.
To address this, QT Group has successfully designed and assembled containerized SWRO desalination systems, significantly reducing on-site installation time and complexity.
This innovative solution provides efficient, sustainable, and long-term water security for the Maldives, ensuring a stable supply of clean drinking water for its residents and industries.
To provide clean drinking water for over 10,000 Maldivian islanders, QT Group, in collaboration with its civil engineering and renewable energy partners, has supplied five solar-powered containerized seawater desalination units to five islands in the Maldives. This initiative, part of the Belt and Road Initiative, enhances water security and promotes sustainable development.
Each containerized SWRO unit is designed with a 500 - 1000m3/day capacity, harnessing the abundant seawater resources to efficiently produce freshwater for human consumption.
Building on this success, QT Group is now expanding these efforts to African and Arab countries, helping to combat freshwater shortages and drive long-term environmental sustainability.
